The Scientific Way To Remember Reading
Some Scientific Ways To Remember Reading
- Revision with breaks
- Feynman method
- The Pomodoro Method
- Adequate sleep is required
- Mnemonic method
1. Revision With Breaks
According to German psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus, we only remember 44 percent of anything after an hour of reading it. So we should read the same subject again with a little break, instead of immediate revision. It increases the chances of memorizing the reading. Any reading is remembered for a long time if you read it repeatedly with breaks.
2. Feynman Method
Physicist Richard Feynman developed this method while studying at Princeton University. A method of explaining something very simply is called the Feynman method.
After reading something, trying to teach it to someone else increases your chances of remembering it several times over. When teaching something you have to summarize the reading yourself; We have to discuss. Which plays a great role in getting the reading into your head.
3. The Pomodoro Method
In the middle of studying, it is a daily problem for us to go on Facebook, and YouTube or become distracted. As a result, the study is disturbed and the possibility of remembering it is also reduced because the reading is not done properly. The Pomodoro method can be followed to get rid of this problem.
It is basically a time management technique. In the late 1980s, an entrepreneur named Francesco discovered this method. The Italian word Pomodoro means 'tomato sauce. Named after Francesco's tomato-shaped table clock. In this method, a person will do any one task for a total time of 25 minutes and take a break of 5 minutes at the end of the work. For those twenty-five minutes, you have to keep yourself away from everything else.
And five minutes of break should be chosen for any other work or rest. By doing this, attention to the main work increases, and the effect of the work also increases several times. If this method is applied to the study, the study will be more effective and will be remembered for a long time.
4. Adequate Sleep Is Required
Jessica Payne, a psychologist at the University of Notre Dame in the United States, and some of her colleagues did a study together. It is known that sleeping for a certain time after studying helps in remembering the reading.
So there is no option to take a nap after studying for a long time. For those who are used to staying up all night to take exams in the morning, many times it is seen that their exams are bad. The reason for this can certainly be understood from this research.
5. Mnemonic Method
This method is quite popular for memorizing very small information. The main feature of this method is to make it easier to remember by adding information into rhymes, stories, pictures, etc. Basically to remember vocabulary, different years, or any small information. This strategy can become quite effective.
